I was reading the latest design trends for homes for 2016 thanks to blogger, Michael McGuffie and he had a link to the 12 homes trends for 2016. I just HAD to check it out. (I'm like an addict, gotta get my fix on what's new, up and coming, gorgeous, like the yearly Vogue fall fashion edition). Seems that in my humble abode out in the middle of nowhere, my "waterfall island" is on trend! Heck, I didn't even know that this is what it's called! I just decided to ask my granite expert if he could do this to add more drama to our simple home on the ranch. Without blinking an eye he said, sure! He is a master artisan and owner of Absolute Marble and Granite in Vernonia Oregon. With my dramatic marble, (Rainforest Green Egyptian marble that has had a special finish put on it to feel the textures of the marble) he had to match the veins, striations, limbs, whatever you want to call them. Because we live in the country, surrounded by woods, we fell in love with this marble long ago and we put this in a home we sold, but I missed it so just HAD to put it in again.
It used to have small shelves on the end; completely useless, so I suggested removing them and bringing the marble down to the barnwood porcelain tile flooring we had just put in to bring out the colors and textures in both.
Besides waterfall islands, what else is trending this year in home designs?
Copper bathtubs,
intricate stairways, water-features splitting through your outdoor tables,
barn doors (I'M ALL OVER THAT and have been for over a year!)
...OMG, what's not to LOVE??
Even mid-century modern detailing is on trend, which is so cool as I just put a mid-century modern home on the market (built in the 50s) for only ONE DAY and we got a full price offer!
Do you see these trends in the homes you are currently listing or showing?
