Most Real Estate Professionals agree that Staging your home is a great tool for showing your home in it's best light but what if you don't have enough money to hire a stager? It's time to put your DIY skills and your creativity to the test.
#1 Remove Clutter:
When your home is on the market you often get the last minute call that says we'd like to show your home in 10 minutes. If you have some hidden flexible storage you can do a lot in a short amount of time. Think about tucking storage ottomans under your console table or sofa table. You can also place an attractive storage box on top to toss your mail into when you come in the house.
You can pick up the grey square ottoman for an unbelievable $11.04 or this chevron rectangle ottoman for $25.60 at Target.com
2. Replace family photographs with artwork. The rule is that you want home buyers to imagine your home as their home, if the family photos aren't their family it ruins the illusion. You can create affordable artwork by purchasing a calendar or art book with great images and insert them into inexpensive frames or just mount them on the wall like this person did:
3. Create a Great Entry. Buyers will usually have to wait while the Realtor opens the door, give them something nice to look at. Potted plants, a cool metal sculpture and a great welcome mat can make all the difference. Ideally you want people excited to go into your house and see how great it is. Also along those lines, make sure there is a good path from the parking area (even if it's on the street) to the front door. I would also consider painting the front door to make it pop and say this home is special.
