I woke up yesterday morning just like I do every morning but when I walked into my kitchen I faced a catastrophe... Jay told me we had No Internet!

I had a busy morning planned and had go teach a web 2.0 class, so for the first time in I don't know how long I left for work without checking my e-mail or my blog sites.  It was a really weird feeling that left me feeling very disjointed!

After my class was over I drove to my office just to get on the Internet, check MLS and book showings for tonight. I work from home so driving to the office to do those things are unheard of.

Later, when I got back home, we still didn't have Internet.  I started feeling anxious.

After trying to diagnose the problem for a few hours we finally discovered that our modem thingy had died! BUT...It was Wednesday...Jay's Golf league day and you guessed it he didn't have time to fix it.

Before he left for golf he was able to get one computer working but only if plugged into the cord...but that computer itself was sick...very slow and not worth being chained to a desk to use. I could check e-mail on my Treo but it is just not the same.

I love my wireless.

Blogging addictionSo I spent Wednesday April 23rd totally net free...no ActiveRain, no reading my Feed reader.

I didn't know what to do with myself!

I was home alone, I felt weird, nervous and just plain miserable.

Then I realized the truth and knew that I had to take a bold step and admit it!

My name is Monika and I'm addicted to the Internet!

Welcome to my world.  The PC gets turned on before I even have both eyes open in the morning

Monika, I too am addicted to the Internet. You need to get you one of those wireless cards, just in case.

A day without Internet is barely worth getting out of bed for.

My name is Lenn Harley and I am addicted to the Internet.

I've been addicted to the Internet since December 1994 when I got my first DOS Internet connection, that ugly black screen with the white text scrolling down with a Veronica (Very Easy Rodent Oriented Net-wide Index to Computerized Archives) access.  Pathetic.  No matter, I was hooked on my realization that I was connected to THE WORLD.  I was the only person I knew who even knew what the Intenet was.

Today, if my DSL or Dish back-up and dial-up  or wireless access are all out, I do what every American woman does, I shop.

Yes, I'm addicted.  Welcome to the world.

Monika,  OK, Is confession time. I get it. Hi, I'm Jerry and I've been addicted for almost 10 years and it gets worse by the day. lol;)

Monika I think there is a 12 step program for your issues, I would skip it an live with the addiction if I were you  Steve

04/24/2008 07:20 AM by Steve Loynd, Alpine Lakes Real Estate Inc., Loon Mt, NH.

So true!!  Like Lenn, I've had an internet connection since about 1994 as well.  An old 2400 speed dial-up modem connected me to basic text...no graphics back then!  I was the only person I knew who had internet at home, and I've never given it up.

As far as the 12-step Steve mentioned...what's the web address??  LOL

My name is Kim, and I, too, am addicted to the Internet...(and in very good company!!)

04/24/2008 07:39 AM by Kim Brown (Diamond River Realty LLC)

Monika I certainly know what you mean :) I am a lost soul myself without the computer.

LOL Now you know how I felt when I had to do 3 (eternity)days without the Internet while camping! It's a horrible feeling!! I'm glad you're back up and running.

04/24/2008 07:51 AM by Linda Scanlan (A Fan of AR)

LOL...I knew I was in good company!

A 12 step program? I don't think I would qualify ...I don't want to quit!

I've been connected for so long that I just take it for granted...yesterday totally freaked me out!

Thanks for commenting fellow addicts!

Moni - Thanks for my first laugh of the day.  I didn't read the title, I just started reading the blog so I cracked up at the end.  I too am an addict and I guess that admitting it is the first step.  Forget the other 11 because I don't give a damn if I am an addict, I'm keeping it that way!

04/24/2008 08:52 AM by Amie Varney (Prudential Verani Realty)

LOL... as you can see Amie you are in some fine company! Enjoy your addiction :)

04/24/2008 10:43 AM by Bill Somerset, Realtor, Your Dover NH Real estate agent (Century21 Central Falls Realty)

Shhhhhhh I won't tell anyone Jason!

Bill...You are absolutly right! I was going through withdrawals last night!

Linda...I try and camp where I can be connected...of course I'm probably a fair weather camper.

Bill...I'm with you there...I was lost!

Kim...I've been connected since the early 90's....seems like forever! I really went nuts last night without it.

LOL Steve...no way on a 12 step program for me :)

Jerry...You gotta love it!

Lenn...My 1st was a little Apple2C ...I loved that computer...thought it was the nuts! We've come a long way since then!

Bryant...That is on my wish list BUT I pay so much to be connected that I have resisted an other 59.00 per month. Maybe if I get rid of my Treo????

Nancy...It is the first thing I do when I get up and the last thing I do before I go to bed.

Fran...We're all members of the same club!  LOL!

Very funny...!  I know just how you felt.  That happened to me a few weeks ago, and I thought I wasn't going to survive!  :)

Monika, I'm addicted as well.  In fact, when I was having trouble with my DSL, I went to my cell and started using that.

The internet is my best friend too.  But my husband gets even madder if anything happens to his TV.

This is too funny, but, I, too, am as addicted as everyone else.

My name is Ann Cummings and I'm addicted to being totally connected.  I've been online since 1994, and even dial-up is better than no connection.

Shhhhhh, we can't tell anyone, just like Jason asked.....

addictions, addictions, addictions - everywhere we see addictions. I think it will take more than a 12 step program for this type. It seems no one is ready to give it up:) lol

You know you are an addict when - 1. you dream of blogging

2.

Monika,

I think we all need to go to the same 12-step meeting, IA: Internet Anonymous.  Our personal & personal lives have become intertwined with the Internet.  First thing in the morning for me is have my cup of tea & read my email.  My name is Harold, and I have an Internet addiction.

04/25/2008 05:47 PM by Harold Watts' Palm Springs Real Estate Blog (Scott Lyle Realtors)

Monika I know what you mean, if I can not check my e-mail as well as get on to ActiveRain to check things I feel like something is missing and the whole day just feels strange.

04/25/2008 09:23 PM by George Souto (McCue Mortgage Co.)

Hilarious... Hello, All.  My name is Jesse and I'm addicted to the 'net.  Whew.  Do we have, like, sponsors and such? :)

It cracks Kathy up for me to be sitting in the den with her watching tv and blogging or commenting away.  The trade off is she has the remote!  That's fair, right?
