What are the three most important items on your dream lake cabin list?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We all think differently. The property that’s perfect for you might not be perfect for me or for anyone else. Those three most important items might be the type or size of lake, the perfect swimming beach, other recreation activities, the cabin style that best fits your lifestyle, the number of bedrooms, the garage size, distance from home, and certainly your budget.

Make a list of what's most important. Trade-offs may be necessary within a particular price range. If you find the cabin and lake of your dreams, what are you willing to trade off in your price range? Keep in mind that even if money is no object, you’ll still need to make choices and trade-offs.  Example: I can find you a quiet lake that’s good for paddling and wildlife watching, or a deep, open lake good for waterskiing and jetskiing.  It’s tough to find both in the same lake.

What could be better than a lake cabin? Whether for a family or quiet shelter away from home, a great investment.

Mine list is a great fishing lake, one that is private and about on hour from home

Jean Hedren - On Lake Superior we sometimes get a different variety of questions, like bank height (elevation above the water), sunset or sunrise view, even vegetation/type of trees. On the Great Lakes, shoreline dwellers don't worry much about great fishing or proximity to their primary home.

Inland lake home buyers also always want to know the lake elevation. They do mostly focus on types of recreation like swimming, fishing, boating. Thanks for your comment Eric.
