The Greater Los Angeles Multiple Listing Service: announcement!

Over the past 20 years we had glitches with the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) my biggest problem has been lack of communication. This I found always frustrating because clients often translate that the Problems were at our end.

I am excited to report that our MLS has really become very Customer Service Oriented! I love it. This morning I was signing in to our system. Although it is NOT Good News but I was happy to read this message:

The MLS Technical Team has been working with Microsoft to resolve the issue where Microsoft is blocking emails being sent from TheMLS.com to any email address ending with Hotmail.com, MSN.com, Live.com, or Outlook.com.  We have followed all the steps Microsoft asked us to do without a resolution. Microsoft continues to block the emails. All other email providers continue to function correctly.  While we work with Microsoft to resolve the issue, you have two options if you or your clients are using any of the email addresses listed above.

  •         Option 1:  If available, use a different non Microsoft email address for yourself/client when using TheMLS.com.  This will resolve the blocking of emails sent manually or through TheMLS.com auto notification system.
  •         Option 2:  If emailing manually from TheMLS.com, you can create a PDF for the properties, save the PDF, and email the attachment through your own email provider.

If you need additional help, please call the Help Desk at 310-358-1833

Needless to say this is what I would expect and now that I am aware of the problem you know what I will be doing for about an hour or so. Since there are quite a few clients who are on my automatic program and have MSN & Outlook for Emails….

KUDOS to the MLS for taking a proactive approach and trying to fix the issues. On a side note isn’t it interesting the Problems always occur on the Weekends when it is harder to get hold of people?? I always wonder Why??

On a side note I wish all my clients would be on Gmail… never had a problem YETJ))

Bummer.  Reminds me of AR Somedays with apologies.  We are aware of the problem and are working on it. Right?  Just tell me it is fixed.  Thanks for sharing your problem & letting me rant, too.  Have a good weekend Endre Barath, Jr.

As he market for providers of MLS systems is somewhat competitive, why hasn't the CA board of Realtors looked into just getting a system that cannot be blocked.  We do not have that problem back here

Endre, glad to hear the MLS is getting better.  Zipforms had a similar email issue last year with anything sent to a google address.  Darn spam blacklists.

Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA  I must have missed out on those glitches because I use ZipForms and DocuSign pretty consistently and always ask my clients if they have Gmail:)), Endre
