The Bay Area Regional Medical Center, located at 200 Blossom St, Webster, Texas, opened to the public in July 2014. At that time, Medistar Corporation’s facility featured 104 beds, with plans to expand. South Harris County/North Galveston County is undergoing a rise in housing developments, and the medical facilities have followed to support the increase in population.

A recent article posted by the Houston Business Journal says, “The Bay Area Regional Medical Center's expansion will cater directly to that single-family market, (remarked by Paul McCleary, Vice President of business development-Medistar Corp.). Under the expansion, which kicked off this past summer, the hospital's number of emergency department beds doubled from 11 to 23, and an additional CT scanner was added to deal with the "overload" of need. Three new operating rooms will be functional in mid-December, and two more operating rooms will be added in the fourth quarter of 2016.”

“When all renovations are wrapped up, the hospital will have added roughly 140,000 square feet, making it 373,000 square feet with 200 in-patient beds.”

“One of the center's most significant upgrades is its fifth-floor women's center, which will wrap up around spring 2017. Among other things, the center will include a labor and delivery postpartum recovery area and a neonatal ICU.”

Washington, D.C.-based architecture firm Page designed the project, and Houston-based Linbeck Group LLP is the construction firm on the project. Houston-based Black Mountain Construction Co. led the hospital's emergency department expansion, addition of the CT scanner and the hospital's microbiology lab.”
