I am also a huge fan of Krispy Kreme.  They did not show up here in Texas until just a few years ago.  I grew up on Southern Maid Donuts.  Every Sunday night after church my Dad would stop by Southern Maid Donuts and buy atleast two dozen assorted donuts.  We would then go to my Mimaw's house and have donuts and coffee and visit.  My sisters and I would have our "coffee" just the way our Mimaw made it.  A cup of cream, a lot of sugar and a dash of coffee.  We would sit on the floor and watch Wild Kingdom and then the Wonderful World of Disney.

I do love Krispy Kreme.  Every time we visit Las Vegas we stop by the Krispy Kreme in the Excalibur Casino, usually around 2:00 in the morning.

I enjoyed Dick's post below.  I have a urge for a donut.  Have a great Sunday.

Hello. My Name is Dick and I'm a Krispy Kreme addict.

I'm coming before you this morning because I simply can't do another market report right now, but I also feel the need to provide some balance to some recent posts touting the benefits of things like beets (seriously, Endre?), mustard greens and flourless pizza dough.

I grew up on Krispy Kreme and it has always been my big food temptation. I prefer the basic glazed raised version, nothing fancy, just a soft, delicious wheel of fried dough glistening with pure sugar glaze.

These onesMy standard lunch during high school was four Krispy Kremes and a coke (pronounced co-cola where I grew up), and that cost 25¢, leaving me enough from my lunch money to buy a pack of cigarettes (yes, I was one of those kids).

Cruising the streets of Atlanta at night with my high school friends would often find us at the Krispy Kreme bakery drive-up window, where we would each buy and immediately consume a dozen. And my standard birthday present from my friends during those years was a dozen on a stick of pepperoni.

A reasonable commuteI can, and will, still eat a dozen with the slightest provocation. But for most of my adult life, I was nowhere near a Krispy Kreme bakery. Mary once returned from visiting her sister in Iowa, where a bakery had just opened, and brought back a dozen - they didn't survive the hour long drive from the airport.

Here's how bad it is: if you bring a dozen Krispy Kremes into a break room where I'm working, I will attempt to eat as many of those as possible while unobserved, without shame or remorse. If it's Krispy Kreme, it's fair game in my book.

I guess it's fortunate that since Krispy Kreme has gone national, the closest bakery is 56.4 miles away, in Denver. But now that I think about it, it's all interstate and just on the north end of Denver.

Well, that's all the time I have right now. I just remembered an errand I have to run. I'll be back in a couple of hours.

Krispy Kremes are the BEST!  We have one here, and the line is always pretty long.  I wish I had one now!
