Numerous magazines and websites have rated the food at Louisville's Blue Dog Cafe and Bakery as some of the best, especially if you're looking to have brunch. The next time you're in the Crescent Hill area and you've got time to enjoy some delicious eating, drop into the Blue Dog.

Brunch at the Bakery

The Blue Dog is much more than your average bakery. It's well-known for artisanal bread and a variety of delicious tastes, everything from savory to sweet. Drop into the Blue Dog Bakery and Cafe for brunch any time from 9 am to noon any day. Reservations aren't required unless you have a party of 6 or more.  Parking is available on and off the street, but one of the best ways to approach the cafe is on foot. In fact, on foot is one of the very best ways to enjoy the Crescent Hill neighborhood.

The Cafe is at 2868 Frankfort Avenue, the main artery of the Crescent Hill neighborhood. Walk along Frankfort Avenue, and you'll find all sorts of locally-owned shops and one-of-a-kind businesses. The Blue Dog uses a real wood-burning oven to bake delicious breads. You can also find coffee shops, clothing stores, art galleries and all sorts of other interesting shops all along Frankfort Avenue. This is one of the best places in the city to do some people-watching, or find that one-of-a-kind item that you've been looking for to balance out that shelf in the family room.

While you're in the neighborhood, explore a little bit beyond Frankfort Avenue. The businesses give Crescent Hill a lot of its color, but it's the homes that give this community its life. The housing here is as unique and interesting as the rest of the neighborhood.

An Afternoon in Crescent Hill

Homes were built in Crescent Hill as far back as the 1800s, and you can still find traces of this long-standing history throughout the neighborhood. Many different architectural styles have been trendy over the years that Crescent Hill has been a part of Louisville, so you can find all sorts of homes here. Looking for a charming bungalow? A grand Victorian-like townhouse? Something big and grand? Or a cozy family home with traditional architecture? You can find all of these different options in Crescent Hill, whether you want to live in a family home with a classic picket fence or an eclectic and unique home with a look all its own.

Enjoy brunch on Frankfort Avenue, and spend your afternoon taking a look around Crescent Hill. You'll see why this is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Louisville, and a great place to start looking whenever you're looking for a new Louisville home.
