Poppies!!!

POPPIES

Poppies were blooming in Fort Worth yesterday straight out of the ground! I wasn't the only one to gather around their opening day! They were such a beautiful sight! I hope you enjoy them too!

May these poppies uplift your spirits today and give you something to smile about too. When you think about it, these short lived perrenial plants are very resilient. When they are ready to show up - they show up! Timing is everything.

I look at the Poppies and I see beauty! Perfection! Purity! Resurrection! Joy! High hopes!!! They are vivid in color and such a showy flower too! I am reminded of the cycle of life, to start life anew! These flowers range in colors of vermillion orange, red, pink, white and yellow. If there are other colors, I haven't been lucky enough to see them. Yet, I shall keep my eyes open. These colors are striking! Each blossom seems to have its own personality. Their petals look like crepe paper, fragile but strong! The stems are strong enough to withstand the wind. They are awe inspiring!

Oddly enough, I was expecting Poppies late spring but they came to Fort Worth, Texas on 1/31/2016. I guess you never know; therefore being in the right place at the right time is lucky! What would life be like without flowers or pleasant surprises? Life is good in all its heavenly hues. New growth beckons us to be alert for positive changes on earth. The sleeping beauty has arisen and my heart sings with joy!

Roy Kelley - Spring is in the air here in North Dallas. I'm glad you got a whiff of it through my photos on ActiveRain. They say snow makes an excellent heat insulator. I just know they will be pushing through that soil in Gaithersburg, MD to blanket the earth in spring flowers again soon.

Good morning, Patricia -- it appears as if the poppies in your photo are looking up to the sun.   Nicely captured.  Happy February.

Michael Jacobs - I thought the same thing too. As I was bending down to take their photos, I thought to myself, I'm looking down but these flowers are looking up to the sun!

Happy first day of February to you too!

Lucky you!!!!  I'm enjoying our mild temperatures here in NH lately.  We could hit 60 today.  No flowers, of course, but I will take what I can get.

Sharon Tara - it's nice to know that you have mild temperatures in NH lately! That's a good sign! For NH to hit the 60's in January is rather unusual, I would say! I wonder how much snow is on top of Mount Washington? When I lived in Denmark, ME, I visited NH often and there were times when I saw snow-caps in July!

Poppies are such a delightful flower. I too love them. How fun to see this much color in the mid of winter. I find such hope when we see the first of Spring's flowers appear magically from a deep winter's sleep. Perfection is right~ Happy Monday Patricia.

My poppies won't even think about blooming for a few more months.  We are expecting 10 inches of snow in my area today.  The poppies are staying under ground for now.

Patricia I love poppies! So bright and cheery! Hibicus are fun too!  It's funny yesterday it was 75 and we were out in shorts and enjoying the warmth and looking for pretty flowers for the yard. I guess it's a little too early even for Phoenix as not much is out yet. But that's ok because today it's really chilly (for us) maybe 50 and a lot of wind. I just came back from a clients house and while we were walking the yard I thought - man - I don't remember it being this cold here ever during the day.  Bring on the pretty poppies!!

Patricia thank you for sharing the pictures of the poppies.  Everything is gray around here, and will continue to be gray for another three months.  So it was good to see some color and remind me of what things will look like once our flowers start to bloom again.
