Old Man Winter and Mother Nature Teamed Up for Another Cedaredge Snow
February is starting off with a bang in terms of snowfall. I love this stuff, and watching it snow. I was like a kid at Christmas looking out the window this morning to see how much snow had fallen overnight.
I shoveled the walks in front of my house last night. This morning it looked like I hadn't shoveled at all. That's the downside to a lot of snow...shoveling it.
Snow fell all day on Sunday, but a lot of it melted as it hit the ground. Last night was different, though. It got cold and the snow stuck. In town we probably ended up with about five inches overnight.
The reports from Delta are that there is snow on the ground, but the roads are just wet and travel shouldn't be difficult.
The report from Ridgway is much more entertaining. A friend of mine cleared over 12 inches off her car over the weekend, and shoveled more than that off of her sidewalks. She says she's running out of places to put all of it.
Over the weekend she put on her cross country skis to walk her dog around the neighborhood.
Powderhorn Mountain Resort is reporting 18 inches of new snow over the last 48 hours. There's a 61 inches base and all runs are open. Conditions are great.
This is Colorado. We are suppose to get snow. Although on the Western Slope, we are getting more than we normally do. This area is part of the banana belt and temperatures usually warm up and melt off all the snow rather quickly. We still have a good portion of that foot of snow that fell at Christmas on the ground. I know there will be more to come...probably even later today or tonight. I'll keep the shovel handy and my gloves warm.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 26 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
