Charlotte is filled with many different cuisines and a wide variety of price range for each. Personally I like to eat very healthy, since I am vegetarian, but I have my little spots that will always be my favorites. Since there are three times to eat during the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, I thought I would share a pick for each one of these.
For Breakfast, anyone who knows me, I love bagels and I always have to have one. My pick for my bagel spot is definitely Owens Bagel and Deli, located on South Boulevard. This is hands down one of the best bagel places in the world. I usually get a wheat bagel with hummus, although they have a very wide variety of bagel sandwiches on their menu, wheat bagel and hummus is my favorite. Plus they have the best sweet tea ever, and if you're from the south you will surely enjoy their sweet tea. Owen's Bagels is also a great way to network with people. An average price for a bagel and drink is around $3.50-$4.00 depending on how elaborate your bagel sandwich is. Owen's bagels also caters and delivers for orders over $40
Now for lunch, I would usually go for just a salad but I am talking about my favorite spots so I am going to have to say Cabo Fish Taco would be my lunch choice, this is located in the heart of NoDa. Of course they always bring out the traditional chips with their homemade recipe corn salsa that no one can beat! This corn salsa is enough to bring someone back to this restaurant. They offer a wide variety of fish tacos as well as burritos, salads, soups, and a lot of other wonderful entrees. My favorite pick from their menu would be their Barbecue Mahi Tacos. These consist of Barbecue mahi-mahi, not fried but grilled with barbecue sauce, with a little bit of cheese, a small amount of cabbage, and their special aoli sauce. It is served with a side of your choice, normally I just get black beans. Great meal! This meal would run someone between $8-$10
And finally for dinner one of my favorite restaurants in all of Charlotte I would have to say is Ru Sans, a sushi restaurant. For some people this would probably not fit your personality because Ru Sans has a very fun, loud and active ambiance. My usual here is a house salad with ginger dressing, edamame, an Alaskan roll (crab salad with spinach) and two california rolls/3 pieces each. Ru Sans offers a lot more on their menu but these just happen to be my favorite. The sashmi served at Ru Sans is the freshest I have seen in all of Charlotte! This meal will run me about $15 and this includes the tip.
Now as a college student do I do this every day? NO! I certainly could not afford that, however, when I want to splurge or my friends want to go out to eat these are my top three picks of where to go. I do have other favorite restaurants like Brixx wood fired pizza, Dean and Deluca, La Paz, Chipoltle Mexican Grille, Nikkos, etc.
