One of the many positive aspects of living in Southern California are the farmers markets, which can be found in most communities throughout the year.

And Carlsbad is no exception.

Carlsbad Farmer's Market         Art objects at the Carlsbad Farmer's Market

The Carlsbad Farmer’s Market is held on Wednesdays year round from 1 – 5 PM, and on Saturdays from 9 Am until 1 PM. The market can be found in the heart of Carlsbad Village at 2930 Roosevelt between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue.

The Carlsbad Farmer’s Market is a great way to buy fresh fruits (including the famous Carlsbad strawberries) and organic vegetables, and to support our local farmer’s. You can also find flowers, plants, homemade breads (no preservatives), lemonade, popcorn, gourmet oils and vinegars, honey, the best tamales around, dried fruits and nuts, candies and fudge, and much more. Many of the vendors are there every week, but the variety changes, and offers more during the summer months. The market continues to expand and now you will see a few arts and crafts, clothing, art objects, books and CDs, and other assorted items.

Be sure to bring cash (ATMs are nearby) since most vendors do not take credit cards. Parking is free and close by in community parking lots and on the surrounding streets.

Here’s a list of other local Farmer’s Markets in the San Diego area.

Hi Jeff, We are spoiled here in California but the best Farmers Market I have ever attended was in Dallas. Unbelievable. Now those farmers and importers knew how to display and sell. I was also impressed with the one in Seattle. That one is huge and sells everything from fish to furniture with more vegies than one could imagine. Their flower market stretches the imagination. Cut our best prices in half and that would represent the most expensive found their. Amazing. That said, there is still nothing like at least having one and I miss not having one over here in Carmel Mtn Ranch.

William - yep, there are some good makrets elsewhere too. I'm just impressed we have them year-round, coming from chilly New England. We saw some amazing markets in Europe when we have been there. There is one in Paris that I believe covers acres where all the chefs go for their produce, meats and fish.
