Jumbo or Standard Postcard?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX The Producers ~ Omaha Nebraska

I am ordering some new postcards I designed and started to wonder if I should go with a jumbo postcard or a standard post card.  I know the standard card is cheaper and uses less postage, but I want the best results.  So I am asking this question to my new source of information as a new member of AR.

Jumbo or Standard?

Full Color or B/W on back side?

  Thank You for your help.

Brad- I gave up on using postcards a couple of years ago due to lack of response. I had used both sizes. Are you having any luck?

Hi Brad,

I primarily use the standard black & white postcard.  I have found that consistency is the key, so whatever you choose stick with it...  Have a great day.  Michael A. Caruso

I have not done much with post cards.  I do some letters and they are not doing well and a book I am ready said no to letters so I was going to give a good effort to postcards.  My broker mails them out and seems to do pretty well.

I rarely use them anymore either.  I think the most important thing is the content and whether or not you can grab someones attention in the 3 seconds you have as they are flipping through the junk mail.

If you are not doing mailers.  What are you doing that works to get new business outside of your sphere/past client?

Staci  I agree. Content is the key to any mailer.

Brad, I guess it would make sense to ask how you intend on using the cards.

  • If you are sending prospecting cards I would recommend smaller cards  The only person (s) who will notice what the card is about when he/she receives it in the mail is a prospect.  Because your promotion is on his/her mind and it won't matter the size.  Everyone else will through it away no matter how big, how pretty or how much you spend on it.
  • If you are sending customer appreciation or thank you cards.  Then I would recommending spending the extra money. As you have a relationship with these people, they have the opportunity to judge for themselves what you send.  Here is where you want to be spetacular.

I don't recommend post cards either. Coming from owning my own marketing/advertising company, post cards will go in the trash. You might hit one person out of 100 that is even in the market to buy or sell. Are you targeting a subdivision for business or are you announcing a new listing?

I am going to mail them to FSBO and Expired.  Wow this is my first blog that got some action.  I can see how people get hooked on AR.  It is interesting to see what people respond with.

Brad,

I would recommend using either size - just be sure the content catches the eye and is professional.  Make sure you have a "call to action".  Offer something others don't --- good luck!
