Reblogging 101 or What’s In It For Me?

Let me preface this by saying there is no rule that says you have to reblog a post.  Therefore, if your answer is going to be “I never Reblogging on ActiveRAinreblog” no problem. Feel free to read a market report or something.

However, if you’re considering reblogging or are fairly new to it and need more information...please read on.

Points aside (yes, let’s get those out of the way) there are benefits to reblogging.

1.It helps share information on the post topic to the ActiveRain community.

I can’t count the number of special announcements, ActiveRain contests or challenges, or really good posts that I would have missed had it not been for a reblog.

2.It is a way of sharing good content on a topic that would be of benefit to your followers, outside of this community.

3. It is a nice way of introducing a new member to the community.

What you need to know….

1.You will receive 25 points for each post you reblog, up to 1 per day.

2.To receive points, you need to write some kind of introduction and/or commentary consisting of at least 25 words.

OK- the queen of  these is Lenn Harley .  Her introductions to a reblog are classic, and often a post in and of themselves.

To Enable or Disable Comments.

Your choice.  Some people disable them so that any interaction will be directed towards the original author of the post.

Or, you can enable them just as you would your regular post.

There you have it.  The next time you read a post that you find interesting or newsworthy, don’t forget the option of reblogging.

Bob great points to re-blogging, often times I miss a really good blog only to catch it when someone else re-blog it. Thanks for your point of views which I agree.

I have read some re-blogs that are exceptional.  I know I would have missed the information if it wasn't for re-blogging.

I was recently the recipient of a very generous re-blog by Bob Ratliff, and I know that because of his help the post was read by a much larger audience than I normally would have received. So for all of you re-bloggers out there, I thank you. Thanks, Bob for re-blogging Kathy's post on re-blogging. I would have missed it otherwise.

I read a re-blog yesterday,  and started going through old blogs of members to re-post something that caught my eye. I never think of doing this.

I have only been reblogging recently Bob Crane but still I have to really be taken by the content to reblogg it.

Good reminder - I often come across good posts and don't reblog.  I do, however, share them on social media which is pretty good for the blogger too.

Nice explanation of reblogging in the Rain, Bob. Wish it had been there 4 years ago when I joined AR. I reblog fairly infrequently and then normally for my "outside" audience. But like you, I also would have missed many announcements in the Rain without a reblog.

Re-blogging is something I wish I'd think to do more often. Even though I did catch Kathy's post, I could use another reminder.

And this is shear art. A reblog of a post on reblogs.

Kathy Streib has quietly been suggesting to me that I get into the habit, since I hardly/almost never do.  The reasons are very clear to me.

At the moment, I'm a shy reblogger, but I'll get there.

Thanks for the mention Bob.

When I return from my winter vacation, I'll be doing some serious blogging.

For now, it's Alex Cross mysteries.
