Lets Paint the town...

I recently witnessed the most amazing transformation of a house just by changing the exterior color. The home is a smaller ranch with little landscaping, sitting on a corner lot. Imagine a dark roof, black shutters, white trim and a pale yellow for the shakes...talk about pasty, especially in the winter. One afternoon I see that the shakes have been painted a dark, taupe-green. From ugly to elegant without any other changes, all the trim stayed the same. WOWAWEEWA! I am inspired.

I have always leaned toward the darker neutrals for interior. This really brought home the grounding, the clean contrast, and the power of color on the exterior. Look at what a difference a darker color makes in this ranch...thanks to my friends at featurethisdotdotdot.com...Lets paint the town , shall we?

It looks great. Now the trim looks good with the rest of the color of the house, and not so drab. I love these before and after photos.
