What A Housing Shortage Means For Your Austin Home Value

Friends,

Recently, a National Association of Realtors (NAR) headline really jumped out at me:

NAR Study: New Home Construction Trailing Job Growth in Majority of Metro Areas

According to the article, a general lack of new construction in many areas is "contributing to persistent housing shortages and unhealthy price growth."

I know you're busy, so I've put together a brief list of the article's most important points:

-- According to [NAR Chief Economist] Lawrence Yun, with significant job growth in many areas, the disparity between housing starts and employment is widening.

-- Yun says there’s no question the homebuilding industry continues to face many challenges, including rising construction and labor costs, limited credit availability for smaller builders and concerns about the re–emergence of first–time buyers.

-- The strong job growth seen so far in 2015 suggests that sustained price growth will continue to put pressure on affordability.

If you want to take a look at the whole article, you can find it here. It's a crucial bit of information about where the market is heading.

So, what does all of this mean for you?

Well, if you're a homeowner who has been on the fence about selling, now might be a good time to list. With inventory as low as it is nationwide, this is a great opportunity to get your home sold quickly and for top dollar.
