Everything INCLUDING the Kitchen Sink - great Kingston Kitchens

By
Real Estate Agent with Sotheby's International Realty Canada - Brokerage

We're in the process of revamping our kitchen: new countertops, new tile flooring, resurfaced cabinets and a few new appliances.

One of the things I'm insisting upon is an Apron Sink (Farmhouse Sink or Belfast Sinks as they're AKA)

I originally wanted copper but have decided to go with white instead, which will suit this particular kitchen better.  (Also thinking of resale purposes)

In my online search for this elusive large, single bowl sink that will fit our dimensions, I came across this one:

Have you ever seen a Bamboo Sink before?

Is it something that would suit you and your kitchen?

Would you design around a Bamboo Sink?

I have many gorgeous kitchens in the listings I hold.  So many styles to suit so many personalities and needs.

Check out a few of these Kitchens (including the all important sinks!) :

5 Mathew St, Delta

This is a fabulous Professional Kitchen that overlooks their swimming pool and also leads to the lakefront!

246 Island View Drive, Gananoque

This beauty gives you the choice of overlooking the 1000 Islands & St Lawrence River  OR a Multi-Million Dollar Equestrian Farm out the other window . . .  spoiled for choice!

45 Main St, Westport

Sleek, clean lines with acres of worktops, and a secret stairwell behind cabinet doors! This is a massive kitchen that includes a pizza oven too.  All this in a Historic property on the Rideau Canal.

1154 Deer Park Lane, Kingston

You can't see it from this photo but this eat-in kitchen faces the beautiful 14 Island Lake -  one of the most pristine lakes in the area!

2902 Holleford Road, Kingston

Okay, this isn't a great shot of the actual kitchen (just the breakfast bar) but I had to show you the lake and greenery it overlooks!!!   And, this one does have my cherished white apron farmhouse sink!!

19 Riverside Drive, Kingston

This gorgeous kitchen brings the outside in!!  Bright and light with high end appliances and solid surface worktops -  it doesn't get much better!

If you'd like to see the full photo array of the above kitchens plus floorplans for each, simply Text the applicable Code to 613.707.7116 and it will pop up on your phone immediately!

So my friends, wish me luck in my search for the perfect sink and if you're looking for the perfect home, give me a call and together we'll get you cooking!

Susan, Expecting to remodel our kitchen this year and anticipate a farm sink being installed, but I'm not sold on the bamboo idea, not just because it would be totally out of place with our decor, but I'd be concerned about how well it would hold up to sharp objects and stains.  Bill

Good afternoon Susan,

Bamboo is the new wood and is replenished faster than a tree.

My daughter did the floors in her home and it holds up remarkably well.

With the right decor it would probably work well.

Make yourself an astonishing day.

Liz and Bill Spear   I thought you were going to say you were afraid it would grow, LOL !  Bamboo is pretty hardy and we're seeing its use in serving trays, salad bowls, etc.

It would have suited my last home perfectly!!!

Raymond E. Camp we're seeing a good variety of bamboo flooring up here too.  I wrote a blog about 3 or 4 years ago about bamboo fencing being all the rage and it gets more hits than the majority of my posts  (pardon the pun)

Thanks for stopping by !

Susan Emo I am not sold on the bamboo kitchen sink in all honesty. I would demand an extended warranty for wear defects. Let us know how it holds up, please!

I'm doing some renovations in my kitchen as well, and spent quite a bit of time sink shopping.  I wanted a farm sink as well, but ended up buying a 1950s Kohler drainboard sink at an architectural salvage shop.  I had it refinished, and it will go in soon.  I love the bamboo, and think it would be beautiful in any kitchen.

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI  I'm not getting the bamboo sink.  I am getting a white farmhouse sink.  I'll wait awhile to see if they can perfect the bamboo -  I'd need a far different house for it anyway!

Having a hard time fathoming a bamboo sink.  I do love those big sinks though.

I had a bamboo shirt one time.  Got lots of compliments on it, but it was itchy.
