Maxwell House Coffee, Nashville, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Theodore Roosevelt have a lot in common. In 1886, Joel Cheek designed and introduces a superior coffee blend and marketed it through Nashville’s ritziest hotel, the Maxwell House. 7 US Presidents stayed at the Maxwell House and Theodore Roosevelt, while visiting the Hermitage, Andrew Jackson’s estate, in 1907, was so impressed with the blend he coined the term, “Good to the Last Drop”. Who is to argue with a President. It soon became the brand’s slogan which launched the promotion of the Nation’s first blended coffee. In 1928, Postum (now General Foods) purchased Maxwell House's parent company, Cheek-Neal Coffee, for more than $40 million.
And that my friends, is my 2¢’s worth for today.
