This is LENT...An opportunity and season to draw CLOSER TO THE LORD...Or...To get to know HIM...!!!
We need to make this a GRUDGELESS season...Kind of like ERASING THE CHALKBOARD...CLEARING THE SLATE...OPENING A NEW TAB...THEN...
Our hearts and minds will be conducive to HEARING THE TRUTH...AND Ultimately it is THE TRUTH THAT WILL SET US FREE...Free to get to know HIM or draw closer to HIM...!!!
WE MUST FIRST RELENT: Be open to change, to capitulate, to give up certain behaviour...
THEN WE MUST REPENT: To see ourselves as we are...SINNERS...in constant need of TURNING BACK TO GOD...acknowledging HIS LORDSHIP OVER US AND HIS VICTORY OVER SIN...Desiring to TURN...AWAY FROM EVIL AND TOWARD THE LORD...
LASTLY, we need to LIVE IN THE PRESENT...to LET GO OF OUR GRUDGES...OUR FOIBLES...OUR QUIRKS...OUR RESENTMENTS...OUR PAST FAILURES...
If we try this process in earnest, WE WILL HAVE A FRUITFUL LENTEN SEASON...!!!
WE WILL NOT BE PERFECT BY EASTER SUNDAY, but WE WILL BE WELL ON OUR WAY...AND...WE WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY A FAITHFUL FRIEND IN JESUS TO GUIDE US AND WALK WITH US, AND YES, SOMETIMES EVEN CARRY US ON OUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE...!!!
