Who would visit an open house when it's 20 degrees with 30 mph winds?

Who would possibly venture out to visit an open house when it's 20 degrees out with 30 mph winds? On a Saturday?

Buyers who want to take advantage of the (still very) low interest rates. Buyers who were proactive about their taxes and will be putting their refund towards a home purchase. Buyers who don't want to wait for the Spring market and the increase in competition. Ready, willing and able buyers. Serious buyers!

We had 17 - super nice - buyers stop by my Open House at 11344 King George Dr today. 17 buyers who braved the cold to tour a lovely 3 bedroom garage condo that is within walking distance to the Wheaton Metro Station. We offered coffee and hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies to warm them up and make them feel right at home.

The response and feedback was 100% positive!

Winter is not a good time to sell, they say. Buyers are not out looking at homes in the cold, they say. Well, I say, that is not true! 17 visitors stopped by our Open House today! I call that a success!

Inventory is a bit tight Sam Shueh and I also put a lot of effort into advertising this open house - and the sellers helped, too!

I'd say serious ones. Sometimes you gotta look no matter the weather when it's really time to buy. I'd say that weather might keep lookie loos at home.

Your open house results are just another example of some of the myths we still hear in our business about the weather inpacting business, holidays, and so on. We all know serious buyers, and I have certainly been one of them more than once, will go out in just about any weather or time of year to look.
