Think before you wield that paint brush! Staging in Burlington

Once again I had to tell a client to paint to increase their chances of a successful sale.

Apparently about a year ago they painted their open concept home. While the paint was still in good shape, it was the wrong color. It had a strong pink undertone.

Paint is a cost effective way to improve a home but not if you do it every year.

Choosing a neutral paint color can work for you and need not be boring. There are wonderful undertones available and neutrals appeal to a wide range of buyers. Neutrals can vary in depth of color and range from Whites to Taupes to Greys. We stagers tend to go with taupes or greys because white can come across as sterile and cold.

You can bring in your favorite colors with accent walls, art, window treatments, furniture etc. Opt for pieces that will go with you when you move.

Stop! Before you wield that paint brush ask yourself this question.

Do I  want to paint again if I move?

Janice,  Paint does make a huge difference.  I see a lot of yellow in my area ... not a light pastel yellow ... a bright canary yellow.

Sounds very vivid Kathleen Daniels ! Unfortunately yellow is not loved by all .

Good advice, Janice!  Paint can yield dividends to a sale, if done correctly!

That's right Myrl Jeffcoat . It can really update a home and make it feel new again.

I recently did a home staging consult where the seller reluctantly agreed to repaint a room they just did a couple months ago. It's very very bright neon green. Once I explained the importance of painting it, he agreed.
