Scenes From the Cedaredge 2016 Crockpot for Critters Shelter Fundraiser
This is another Cedaredge event that keeps getting bigger and better every year. This was the third year for Crockpot for Critters. The dinner is one of the biggest single fundraising efforts for the animal shelter.
I was volunteering. My best guess is we served close to 400 people. The community center was packed, and the food line went almost all the way around the room. So many Delta County businesses supported the shelter. Over 100 items were donated for the silent auction.
If you aren't familiar with Crockpot for Critters, think of it as a big community potluck. Food is donated and people purchase a ticket and show up to socialize and enjoy a wonderful meal. For the last two years, a potato bar has been a part of the supper.
This is a family friendly event. Throughout the evening, local musician, Beth Williams, donated her time and talent and kept everyone entertained.
I can't believe how creative people are when it comes to cooking in a crock pot. I always think of making chili and beans in my slow cooker, but there were so many different kinds of dishes available. I tried a spinach casserole, gumbo and something called El Paso ham (I loved it). There's a rumor going around that a cookbook with crock pot recipes might soon be available.
The Cedaredge Animal Shelter is on a mission. They have to raise the funds to construct a new building. It will take $120,000 to get this accomplished. Construction should begin this fall.
On behalf of the Cedaredge Animal Shelter, I would like to thank everyone that donated prizes, food and their time. Sue Shelton was a powerhouse fundraiser. She really took it upon herself to make sure this was going to the be the biggest and best shelter fundraiser yet. She succeeded.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 26 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
