We Humans invented time because we were so “evolved” that we thought we should manage it, control it, and use it wisely.

We value time, and we hate it (sometimes) especially when we “run out of it.”

How irritating is it when some unthinking neanderthal wastes your time?

Maybe it’s that person in the car in front of you who is driving so SLOWLY and (GASP) letting other people in front of her while you’re stuck behind her.

What about that client or your Doctor who refuses to respect your time by consistently being LATE?

How RUUUUUDE!

I have some great, liberating news for you.

You were not born with the responsibility to manage and control time, nor were you tasked with the lifelong project of bringing the rest of the world into compliance with YOUR perception of the best use of time.

For us Humans, time is a resource that is ever depleting because, for us, we know our time on this planet is finite . . . Indeed, We ALL will die when “our time comes.”

I believe we are each solely responsible for our individual use of time. No one can steal or waste our time unless we allow them to do so.

Why do I say this with such conviction?

I know that all of us have free will . . . and the freedom of being able to choose what we do with our time . . . and 2 feet (figuratively and physically) that can Mentally or Physically remove us from places where our time is not being consumed in a useful way.

So . . . when someone is wasting your time, move on!

Don’t dwell on your disdain for their lack of respect for your time, take yourself elsewhere and use that time in a way that suits you better . . . Like completing or starting a new project or having an impromptu coffee with a friend or enjoying a walk in the park or going to see that movie you want to see but just never seem to have the time or . . . maybe the best use that freed up time is to do . . . NOTHING!

Yeah! How often do you allow yourself to do NOTHING these days?

I know – BLASPHEMY – that would be SUCH a waste, right?

try it once in a while.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I have now bestowed upon you the great honor of having COMPLETE control over your own personal use of time.

You might ask “on whose authority” can I grant this permission to you? . . . Really? After all, who am I that I can claim such a liberating power as this?

to which I respond:

Who are all those other people to whom you’ve given permission to command and control YOUR time?
