This has been an annual event the past few years - The American Cancer Society Relay for Life to be held at Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls, NJ - June 14 & 15 2008. This event which will begin on June 14 and continue throughout the night into the morning of the 15th, features participants walking the track of the high school for donations that they garner from sponsors. This unique event is all about community and honors those who have succumb to cancer, and those who are survivors. It also is seen as a way for those whose lives have been affected by the disease, either as patients or family members, to raise awareness and funds to support the ongoing effort of research for a cure. I myself have experienced the devastation of watching a loved one suffer a great deal and then lose the battle. My ultimate hope is that no one would ever have to live through that ever again. Great strides have been made in defeating this devastating disease, but we still have a long way to go.
