Winter Musings While Walking at Fairfield Hills Today, is February 18, 2016. The weather has been frigidly cold the last week and then the temps in the low 50's with heavy rain. Most of the snow has now melted. Today's temp was about 30 degrees and windy. Richelle decided to take Riley, the Real Estate Dog, for a walk this afternoon.
Now, Richelle and Riley walk at Fairfield Hills on a regular basis. They have a regular route that they walk, but today, was a completely different route all together.
As they walked along, Richelle got to thinking about Fairfield Hills and all that will happen on the grounds as the weather gets warmer. She also thought about things that she's done in there in the past.
She thought that in just a few short months, Newtown's Organic Farmer's Market will open once again. It's located right where the white picket fence is in the photo during the summer and is open every Tuesday afternoon. That then got her thinking about the Onion Man. The Onion Man sold his onions at the Organic Farmer's Market a few years ago. He had THE.BEST.ONIONS! They were tasty and delicious. The one day, the Onion Man was not was not at the Organic Farmer's Market. Ends up that he had been escorted out of the market - his onions WERE NOT ORGANIC!
In 2012, Richelle ran the 5K Rooster Run. She trained for it for several months. She practiced running the race course to become familiar with it. It was the first 5K she ever ran. She ran all over Fairfield Hills - in some of the same areas where she and Riley walked today. Richelle thought about the people who had supported her in achieving that goal and the pride she had crossing the finish line. And then she thought, maybe she should run the 5K Rooster Run again ... in the future. The photo shows Richelle after she crossed the finish line.
Fairfield Hills has been a place in transition for many years. It has become a central place in the lives of many who live here in Newtown. The Newtown Youth Academy (NYA), a small sports complex, is located at Fairfield Hills. The walking trails have been extended and are now nicely paved. The Arts Festival is held during the summer and brings a wide variety of talents to our town. Newtown's Municipal Center is located at Fairfield Hills, too.
Those are just a few of the Winter Musings While Walking at Fairfield Hills that ran through Richelle's head today. And yes, Riley, the Real Estate Dog, and Richelle had a great walk today!
