Will Writing Market Reports Make Your Phone Ring?


Market reports in Clarksville TNMarket Reports are the part of blogging that I like the least. It feels like work and I guess that is exactly what it is. There really is no way to make them fun unless you count being able to put your own twist on them to project the future and what it holds. I do like doing that part. You see by writing these reports, I am being found by the public and my phone is ringing. The public sees me as the expert in the area and more specifically the neighborhoods I write about. It is a necessary part of any blogging schedule where you want to be recognized as the one in the know about the market.

 

The Market Reports Are Repetitive 

So what? There are only so many ways you can present the facts and the facts are what the public wants to see. They want to know if houses are selling and appreciating. They want to know about the schools and days on the market. They want to know about the HOA's and the neighborhood amenities. They want to know what is special about the area. I can tell them all about these things and I do it often and consistently. 

Regular Postings Will Get Found

Being regular about your postings is important. Hitting the topic every now and then may not prove your knowledge or establish you as the expert. It takes putting your nose to the grindstone and writing the posts regularly, selecting good titles and packing them with data. Your posts are evergreen and after you have established a good inventory of posts you will dominate. I can promise that if you are selecting areas that others are not writing about then you will be on the very top of the search list. This will open doors and make the phone ring.

It happened to me again a couple of weeks ago. A buyer was looking for a home in a particular and was having trouble finding any available for sale when driving through the neighborhood. She decided to call me since I knew the neighborhood and was the agent that came up at the top of her Internet search when keying in the neighborhood name. I became the expert to her and the fact is I do know the neighborhood very well.  

The Bottom Line

When you gather the data and put together market reports you are digesting the data and internalizing it. You know the market and it becomes part of you. Not only in your writings but in your daily conversations you can speak it and know what is going on. You can also put together your own opinions and interpretations about the trends in the neighborhood and share those. The public loves to hear what we agents are thinking thus all the questions like, what do you think interest rates will do, when is the best time to sell, and are there any good deals out there? I study and write regular Market Reports and additionally analyze the data. I enjoy giving my opinions because they are my opinions and nobody else's.

All this writing makes me educated which helps me serve my real estate clients better. It gives me confidence and expertise in the neighborhoods I study. Writing Market Reports will payoff with making the phone ring. It will not happen overnight. It may not happen this year but if you are consistent and are giving good data you will earn business you would not otherwise get. It is not my favorite thing to do but I suck it up and do it anyway.

I believe it will, over and over. It is part of my blogging plan and necessary for me to stay on top of the market and be well versed in my market area. It has helped me to become an expert in the neighborhoods I blog about. It has made my phone ring and brought me new clients which leads to more sales.

I couldn't agree more Debbie. I've been doing market reports for years and because of it have become very adept at understanding the market. Yes, they give you credibility with the buyers and sellers and they also make the phone ring. That's great. Just importantly though, they make you into a more knowledgable agent so when you meet those buyers and sellers that they know right away that you're an agent who knows what their doing.

I'm very consistent in my market reports, Debbie. But can't say that to-date it's generated any calls to me. But I know it pushes me to the first page of google more than once, so I suppose that's a good thing. I think of it as a credibility thing and the process of preparing the reports "forces" me to be very current on market conditions in the areas I cover.

I believe in market reports but I have not been consistent enough! I always wonder if I should do the report on the cities that are in my service area or would it be better to choose and focus on specific subdivisions within the city? What do you think? If you narrow it down to subdivisions, and you do a lot, it would be very time consuming. There are so many small subdivisions in my area.

There are many types of reports that can be generated; probably shorter, 'to the point reports' will get the best reaction from readers/buyers/sellers.
