Dana Point Festival Of Whales
It's spring time and the California gray whales are heading back north. They spend each winter basking in the warm waters off Baja, Mexico. Now the whales and their calves will swim past Southern California on their way back home for the summer months.
Each year, Dana Point celebrates this passing with the Festival of Whales. For 2016, the two weekends are March 5-6 and March 12-13. There are whale themed events for all ages, with a concert, craft show and art shows. Of course you can also take one of many charters to head out and see the whales up close, although you can see the spouts with your naked eye or perhaps a set of binoculars.
