I went to the Green Living Expo this past weekend at the Austin Convention Center. How much fun. A couple of month's ago I had entertained the thought of being a vendor at this show, but later decided against it. I wanted to go to see what kind of great ideas were coming in the area of renewable energy.

I was very impressed with SolarTex Solatube Sky Light. I would recommend it to any home owner. This simple design eliminates so many problems home owners previously experienced with old school sky lights. It also delivers a great deal of good quality light. If you have a dark area in your home, I would encourage you to look into this solution.
For me, we are going to be moving into a home where the garage has been converted and we'll use it for a school room. Garage conversion are notoriously dark. This will be a great addition for that room. I'm looking forward to having one installed. I let you my first hand experience.

Then there was this, the FLIR B250. It is a thermal imaging camera. This isn't for the average homeowner. This is a tool I want to get for my inspection business. In the current climate , pun intended, where everyone is sensitive to energy consumption, I would love to have a tool like this to be able to tell the home owner exactly where they are missing insulation in the walls, where there is a water leak in the walls or attic, where the ductwork is leaking conditioned air into the attic (what a waste!)
All-in-all, the Austin Green Living Expo was a lot of fun. Next year I'll be a vendor.
