The process of designing and styling a Builder's Model is adding layers, just like an artist layers paint on his canvas.  Here's a sneak peek at my 2nd Builder's Model that is just beginning to get installed.

You start with an idea, the idea blooms into a color board.  My inspiration is always color - It could be from a haCascade Fabricnd painted vase, a fabric, or a place. Color always drives my initial design.

Choosing amenities such as cabinets, counters, lighting tile and faux finishes in-tune to your design style and color palette - Always keeping in mind what the ideal buyer would like.

The next layers will be window treatments, secondary furnishings, and accents.  I'll post the completed CANVAS' next week!!

Julea ~ That's a beautiful blue!  I am doing my first models (2 condos) and just met with the builder to pick out the tile, wood floor and carpeting for the upgraded unit yesterday. Having the colors already picked out and larger samples with me was a big help!

I like your new picture!

Hi Kathy,

Thanks, it's actually an old head-shot, but much better for A/R.  Congratulation on your 1st Models -Although very time consuming, Models are very rewarding and you get to use all your know-how and talent!! - The Biggest plus is you get to send people to see your "Work on Display" for 1-2 years.

Living Room is BM - Boca Raton Blue

Master Bath is SW- Copen Blue (Which is also on the ceiling in the Dining Room.)

Ooooh, love the Boca Raton Blue!  I like your lighting selections as well - especially the one over the kitchen table!  Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks Susan,

I really wanted to be cutting edge w/this home, we have the upgrade appliance package, yet, since we're in the Chicago-burbs - not too cutting ,thus the bronze rather than chrome.

Lots of Chrome and Mercury Glass in accessories though...

I'll be finished on Wednesday, so I'll update w/the completed product.
