Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad CA
Founded in 1952 as the Carlsbad Boys Club and renamed later in 1992 as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, this organization has provided a range of programs for tens of thousands of Carlsbad’s youth since being founded.
Initially focusing on recreation and programs for after school, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad have expanded their programs to provide a broader range of life skills, nurturing, educational enhancement, arts, recreation and leadership development.
The original facility, remodeled a number of times, is located in Carlsbad Village and now includes a covered pool, technology center, gymnasium and teen center.
The most recent Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad facility was erected in Bressi Ranch (photo above), a master planned residential community in Central Carlsbad, at the Bressi Village Shopping Center. There are 2 other programs for teens, the Armory at the Carlsbad High School, and Bobcat Bay at the newer Sage Creek High School in Calavera Hills.
The National Boys and Girls Clubs organization awarded the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad the “National Honor Award for Best Overall Program Excellence.” The Carlsbad organization sponsors a number of fund-raising events during the year like the Taste of Bressi in March, and the annual golf tournament in April.
