The Inspector doesn't know what he is talking about!!!

MY dad said the inspector doesn't know what he is talking about!

This came from a seller client.  This is the same dad that told me that zillow had the price of the home 28% higher than I could find comps for, and I even proved it by showing all the comps right on the computer.

So, the inspector said there was an issue with an outlet.  Not major but it should be checked out.  I personally used a plug in device and it showed a small chatter.  I told the seller to have her dad bring in an electrician friend of his and check it out.

He did and the friend said yes!  There is an issue.  Checking it out there was a loose wire!

At that point I had a heart to heart talk with DAD.  If he had anything else he did not believe was right get a PROFESSIONAL in and have them check it out.  (It would also be at his expense).

I have yet to hear back from him.

In Minnesota, inspectors need training and licensing...it is ok to question the report, but be sure you have a QUALIFIED person to prove the inspector wrong.  Otherwise, hot air gets you nowhere!

I agree.  In Wisconsin, you can't back out of an offer to purchase if you don't have a professional inspector provide a report.  Protects the seller too from the relatives

Many years ago I worked with a young couple that had aunts, uncles, dads and moms involved. It was a nightmare, but we found them a place to call home.

I have found that this kind of a seller is usually a FSBO man William Feela , you did good just to get him to list.

I think you handled it well. When there is a problem it needs to be taken care of. It is okay to challenge the inspector too.

Good morning William.  Just another reason not to get family involved in the sell or purchase of a home.

To many people think that dad or uncle Joe are good enough inspectors
