I was just commenting another blogger's post and included that line. It just struck me as a powerful title and I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget it. People have been, are and may still be going through hard times and difficulties relating back to the housing crash of 2008 and 2009. So, why then would I, a Mortgage Loan Originator, even bring this up ?
Why would I mention something like this when I want to be upbeat ? It's because I have seen some folks lately that have turned things around. You know, . . . . . the sun is always shining. That's right; even on the gloomiest day; the sun is out as bright as ever but you just can't see it for the clouds.
Well, I'm here to tell you, there are people who have seen the clouds disburse. They can see the light of day moving forward. No doubt, they went through some dark times with short sales, foreclosures and / or bankruptcies but with time and effort, there are stories of recovery.
It was a tough time on everyone. Not to be defensive but I don't believe I personally contributed to the downfall in any way. I DID NOT make risky loans, I turned them down. I have been doing mortgages for over 30 years now. I did good mortgages before it, during it and ever since then.
Here's the point though; if you are one of those good folks that got caught in the bad times, we need to talk. It was not all your fault and you are not the one who should be blamed or punished for something way beyond your ability or control or understanding. YOU are not the problem !
It bothers me that ordinary people get into a situation like this and feel they have nowhere to turn. I got a call the other day and the person told me how things had just fallen apart in their life. As a result of job loss, family changes and health issues, it became an endless downward spiral.
Now the good news. With a new job, settled family life and better health; it's time for the sun to come out. I will probably need six months of cleaning, correcting and rearranging their financial structure but we are going to get them back in a home of their own. This is great !
I am not here just to make money for the bank, though they appreciate my efforts in that regard. I am here to help people. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes people that have all but given up on happiness. And those are the ones I look for most. I love to see people come back.
Like I had to convince this person, it is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about if you, like so, so many others, got caught up in it when everything was going down the drain. Stuff happens. Now let's fix it.
If I can help you figure it out; what happened, where am I now, and what do I need to be doing going forward, then we need to talk. Give me a call, send me an email, come by one of my offices. Just like this person, it might not happen overnight but, . . . . .
The clouds will clear and
you will see the light.
