Have you ever driven a Tesla... the all electric luxury sedan, manufactured by Tesla motors? As of today, I can say "Yes... yes, I have"!
My friend, Kathy, and I went to Leavenworth, Washington (25 miles west of Wenatchee) today for lunch, wine and some great philosophical, open minded, conversation about politics and religion. This is dangerous territory for most people, but not for two long-time friends, searching for enlightenment and purpose in life.
After lunch, Kathy offered to let me drive Mr. T home. What fun that was. I tried a few things Kathy hasn't even had the nerve to try yet. She said she was glad I did because she learned some new things about what her car can do.
This car can drive itself, park itself, decide when to change lanes, and let you know if you are going too fast or if there is danger ahead. It has many other features Kathy has yet to discover and experience.
I noticed that when I stepped on the acceleration pedal, it is serious about acceleration. You noticed I did not say "gas pedal". It is all electric. No gas. Anyway, it will accelerate at a rate of 0 - 60 in about 6 seconds. Kathy said she has been to the chiropractor 4 times already as a result of this feature! LOL
On the other hand, when I took my foot off the acceleration pedal, it slowed down immediately. It's almost as if you have your foot on the brake before your foot is on the brake. So,when you remove your foot from the acceleration pedal, the car has already slowed down significantly before you ever get your foot on the brake. What a great safety feature.
The re-charging infrastructure for supporting these cars for long trips is still lacking, but what a great concept in luxury alternative transportation. I'm already looking forward to the next lunch date with my friend Kathy!
I'll be watching as these cars advance into the future.
Onward...
Carol
