March 7, 2016 is the 31st anniversary of the release of WE ARE THE WORLD written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie in 1985. It's a time to remember the cause and the people who recorded it, especially those who are no longer with us, Michael Jackson and Ray Charles. Also, it's nice to see an old familiar, very beautiful/recognizable face of Kenny Rogers before plastic surgery, and an interesting look at Cindy Lauper with her multi-colored hairdo which was so ahead of her time.
As I reflect back on the music industry, I'm proud of the leadership that took place within the group of American entertainers at that time who promoted charity for the greater global good that wasn't being reached. I would like to think they did good and helped the less fortunate in parts of the world that were in desperate need. I would also like to believe if you share enough good ideas through the arts and social media some lives can be turned around in some corner of the world that needs it the most.
The Arts, Culture, and Social Media has changed over the years but some things never change - being honest, kind, thoughtful, humble, and helpful. The mistakes that people made, such as Michael Jackson should remind us that entertainers are only human and though many are wealthy, they are not perfect. Many made mistakes which cost them their lives or ruined reputations. Perhaps turning the other cheek means, looking at the good people do, instead of the negative. All I know for certain is Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie got it right when the wrote:
