I've had the pleasure now to host another Johns Creek High School student at my firm.
It is amazing what you can learn from young people and hopefully give back to them
as you mentor them and teach them about your profession.
Jacub Rothman from Johns Creek High School from the moment he wrote me an email
struck me as the most inteligent young man and when he showed up to interview with
me I was pleasantly surprised to see what a 17 year old young man understands and
has knowledge about these days.
Needless to say, we've reached his first 5 goals he had on his list already and now we are
setting new goals for the following next few months.
He has learned about real estate terms, visited Luxury listings, attended a closing,
learned how to search on FMLS and Matrix, pulled his own parents tax record on
Realist, wrote articles for us for the social media and Johns Creek City Guide, visited
Fidelity Bank Mortgage company and learned all about loan process, loan programs,
credit scores and how important they are when buying a home, mortgage insurance,
title insurance, closing costs and attorney fees. We even filled out a contract together
on a commercial property, previewed commercial buildings, attended the Atlanta Board
of Realtors building with Georgia Institute of Real Estate where he learned he can take
his exam at age 18, and visited FMLS and the Realtor Bookstore.
I think that once he buys his first home these will all be very beneficial to him and
I'm sure he will become a great investor one day.
Those of us that have had mentors can now become mentors ourselves and give
back to young people. It is a two way street - they learn from us and we learn from
them. I hope you too can become a mentor in some young persons life.
