Real Estate Gadgets.  At most of the real estate conventions the hype always to goes to the latest gadgets.  There are hand scanners, Blackberries, tablet notebooks, laptops, talking sings, tool free numbers with call capture, contact managers, software, GPS, cell phones, web-based contact managers, websites that send text messages, pod casting, Video posts, digital cameras and too many more to name!  So how are they working for you?  Have they developed more closed business recently?  have they developed deals that are going to close in the next month?  What technology has worked for you?  For me it has been the Internet!  Lots of photos, a virtual tour, and real estate blogging as a constant promotion has worked very well for us!

Most agents that I meet at conventions and seminars purchase software and technologies that they will never really get the full or even a partial return on their investment.  Most real estate software remains quirky at best!  More time is spent on tech support than in closed production!  The most common reality?  Software packagas for the most part remains unopened, while the PC Tablets are great to show off at the office.  Most of the items would be great if we were back in grammer school doing "show and tell!"

Jim, Where gadgets are concerned, a little goes a long way.  They can make our lives easier but if all I had was my laptop and the internet I would be just fine.

Jim   I know many Realtors who have those unopened software.  There is so much available but the question to ask one self is, is it really helping my business? This is a post that should make agents reflect on what they are doing.

I remember the day I would not be caught without the latest software, then the bottom dropped and now I hardly ever think about software.  Just trying to increase my business the good old fashion way.... finding out what is free and works.

Hey! I still get to do Show & Tell! At my quilt guild :) We look forward to it all month long.

I agree though, I am done buying the software. Microsoft does everything I need. Otherwise, it is simply updating the equipment for me. I look forward to many years of money saved.

My two biggest pieces of technology that have been doing wonders for me have been the internet and my 1-800#, between those two the amount of business I have been doing has been amazing!

Most of my gadgets are still working.  I hate to buy new things as they often don't work as well as other things.  My PDA/GPS is six years old and my phone is 4 years.
