Rosalind Elsie
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy.
Rosalind was born in 1920 in Notting Hill, London, England to Ellis and Muriel. From her early childhood she showed exceptional scholastic abilities. She was so exceptional at 6 she started at Norland Place School in West London. At the tender age of 11 she was taught physics and chemistry, often she would do complicated mathematical problems just for fun…. BTW she was also fluent in German and French, her only downfall was music.
She attended Newnham College, Cambridge in 1938. She was awarded a research fellowship at Newnham College. After WWII in 1950 she was granted to a three-year Fellowship at King’s College, London. Therein lies the rest of the story. So can you tell me what she is most noted for? Sorry I forgot to tell you the rest of her name. You may know her better Rosalind Franklin. She was an English chemist and X-ray crystallographer who made significant contributions to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid). Sadly, she died of ovarian cancer at 37. I wonder how much more she would have contributed should she had lived longer.
