Salt Lake home sales rank number 3 in the nation ? . Actually Forbes.com ranked Salt Lake as the third best city for selling houses in its "best cities for home sellers report".

It must be true. Forbes is a very reputable outfit, and I'm sure the author has sold a lot of houses.

 I just can't figure out how he came to that conclusion. I asked some friends in the Real Estate business to go to lunch with me and explain it. They said "sure, but your buying, since the benefits of being third haven't worked their way down to me yet".

I need some help here. I want to pass this information on to my clients but am at a loss trying to explain the formula that revealed this "good news". It's not easy suggesting to folks who have made 4 or 5 more payments on their home than they had counted on that just because ( this is the formula) "unsold vacancy rates are up, new construction starts are down, job growth is stable, and the new conforming loan limits have affected financing availability " ,every thing is now OK. I'm not going to try to explain it to you either. I'll just let you read the article for yourself at Forbes Ranks Home Markets. Then get back to me.

In the meantime, I think I'll just stick to the same old clues that have been used in the Real Estate business for years to tell how the market is. IE: How long does it take to sell a house. How many homes for sale there are. How many homes are selling per month. Is the average price for homes going up or coming down. Am I able to make my car payment. How many calls per day we get from clients asking "do you have an offer yet ?".
