Get ready folks, it's that time of year again. It's time for the Franklin County Moonshine Fest ! Yeee haaaa ! For you folks that have NEVER tried a little "shine", here's your chance. Get this, it even comes in flavors for those of you with a discerning palate ! So, come on down !
The Franklin County Moonshine Fest is on April 22nd and 23rd in Rocky Mount, Virginia. On Friday night, there will be a concert AND some good ol' shine tastin' for those brave enough to try some. It's locally distilled.
All day on Saturday, there will be lots of vendors present and exhibits galore to tell the history and methods of creating "shine" as well as mock stills to see. It's a great event for the kids and for their parents.
On Saturday night, there will be a real treat. It's the "SHINE and DINE". It's when local restaurants put out a spread and you can savor their best. It's at the EARLY INN ( nope, not mine ) on April 23rd. I especially like the fact it's "under the stars". That's right; a really fun outdoor pic-a-nic !
There will be a number of special guests, no names announced (that's why they're SPECIAL !) and a unique auction too; so bring your wallet or purse ! Ha-ha. Remember, it's all for a good cause with the proceeds going to and supporting many local and Franklin County area charities.

As the Mortgage Loan Originator for American National Bank and Trust, I know community history is important to Franklin County and to tourism in this area. Did you know Franklin County was once officially declared; "The Moonshine Capital of the World" ? That's right. We were ! Maybe not the best of designations but historical, none the less.
I haven't had an appraisal yet that set a value on the "back yard still" but hey; I've only been in this business for a little over 30 years. Stranger things DO and have, happened. Anything is possible, I guess.
So come on down to the county seat of Rocky Mount, Virginia and have yourself a FUN time ! Enjoy some good music, good food and good friendships with other good folks because it's time; . . . . .
