San Diego may not be New York City in terms of fashion, but we have our own Fashion Week. Spring seems to herald the onslaught of festivals and events, both indoors and out, in San Diego, and this one should be a winner.

Escondido, located about 20 miles inland from Carlsbad/Oceanside, is hosting the area’s first FASHION WEEK from May 5 through the 10th. Mercedes Benz of Escondido is the official sponsor.
Fashion Week will offer a broad range of events throughout the week including multiple runway shows. For those who watched Project Runway, here’s your chance to see Ricky Lizalde (who was born in Escondido) with his new line in a Charity Event on May 6 to benefit The Women of Serenity House.
Dozens of area businesses, especially those involved with fashion or the arts, are participating. There will be a number of trunk shows where you can buy direct from area artists (including an event sponsored by 10 North, a local artists group at 115 West Grand Avenue, with 5 women [including my wife] offering unique designs of fashion, jewelry and home decoration).
