Now I know if your closet floor looks like mine, . . . . . Yep, it's a mess. When I open the closet door, there's a mess of shoes right there. Some I've hardly even worn and some are well broken in. But I'm going to clean my closet out this year and those shoes, . . . . . well, they are going to a great cause !
Have you heard of this ? "Soles For Souls", is a catchy name for a worthwhile agency. So, I ask you; will you "Help me please ?" No, I don't mean cleaning my closet out. I need you to clean YOUR closet out ! I know you have got to have some slightly worn shoes in there that you can share.
The recipients of your worn shoes have no shoes. They are walking around on rocks and desert sands that are rough on their feet. The organization is looking for ALL sizes and ALL styles of shoes, boots and even sandals.
Here is the story from our local TV station, WDBJ7, in Roanoke, Virginia.

New Life Christian Ministries is collecting shoes to help people in Africa. The church hopes to collect 15,000 pairs in order to raise money for a church building project in Uganda. The church is asking the community to give new and gently worn shoes. Any kind of shoe will do - high heels, flats, tennis shoes, boots, sandals - you name it. And we need ALL sizes from toddler to child to teenager to adult.
All donated shoes will be distributed to people in Uganda through the Funds2Orgs network. The shoes are used by people in Uganda and impoverished countries to help them create sustainable businesses in their villages, which allows individuals to be able to feed and clothe their families.
One woman, who at one point was only making $2 a day, is now able to make about $60 a day to support her family because of the shoe program. Shoes are also important to children in Uganda because they must have a pair of black shoes in order to be able to go to school.
So far the church has collected about 1,500 pairs of shoes. Donations can be dropped off at the church, which is just off Airport Road in Roanoke. Several businesses are also participating as drop-off locations. Visit the New Life Christian Ministries Shoe Drive Facebook page for the latest locations.
As this program goes forward, we hope it will grow and folks who donated once will return again and again as they identify slightly worn shoes that can help those less fortunate. So I'm asking you to, . . . . .
Help me please !
"Soles For Souls" needs your help today !
