Spring Maintenance Tips

Spring maintenance tips and advice are perfect timing now that spring is officially here. Spring is officially here and that means it’s time to start your spring cleaning and your spring maintenance tips for your home. Now that winter is no longer inhibiting your outdoor home maintenance needs, it’s time to get outside and get to work. Therefore, we have found a few of the top home spring maintenance tips that should be done once spring arrives each and every year.

Spring Maintenance Tips and Advice:

Gutters – During the winter a lot of things like leaves, small debris, branches and more can play havoc on your gutters. Now is the perfect time to get them cleaned out. You can do it yourself or hire a professional to do it for you. Just don’t let this time pass you by. While you’re checking to see if your gutters are clear, you should also check to make sure they are holding together firmly.

Chimney – This is the perfect time of year to have your chimney swept out. Don’t wait until next fall. You can have a professional come out for less than $100 in most cases but some may charge up to $150. If you used your chimney a lot this past winter or haven’t had it cleaned in sometime, it is more important than ever to have it cleaned properly by a professional. They should also check the flue, mortar and more to make sure that all is safe to use for the next winter season.

HVAC System – Now is a great time to have your cooling system tuned up before it gets too warm. It is also a good time to replace your air filters if they are annually changed. You should also have your HVAC system cleaned along with the air ducts and return vents. You can even have it sanitized for added home spring maintenance to prevent microbial growth.

Roof Inspections – During the winter your home can sustain damage you can’t see until the spring rains start pouring in. It’s very important to get up on the roof and check for missing or loose shingles. You can hire a professional or do it yourself. Just don’t let a professional roofer tell you you have roof damage without getting a second inspection or opinion. This is an old roof scam that you don’t want to get caught up in. If you use a professional, do your homework on the company and make sure they have the proper insurance coverage. This will help insure they are a legitimate company.
