An Open House to Talk About
My sellers' want open houses especially my investors who take great care to rehab and renovate the homes they purchase. My job for them is to advertise, market, promote, stage it, bring buyers in and sell the homes in RI real estate.
So open houses do bring buyers in, lookie neighbors, and people who like to just gab and look at homes. On one Open House weekend a bevy of people came in who were interested in the way my seller remodeled the home- for ideas.
Yes, in fact it was a gathering of many with thoughts spewing everywhere on how they would like the names of the vendors, cabinetry maker, floor refinisher and just about everyone. And then there was the woman who stopped and talked to everyone to discuss the house updates. She was a bit out there. One of the potential buyers, with 2 children with her, told me I needed to call the police since she could be a threat to everyone! My antennae went up but she turned out to be just a strange open personality. New Englanders do seem to get upset when you invade their space - just stay back and look.
No one here complained about property lines or tried to unscrew fixtures (have you had that one happen to you?). Once I got the gaggle of women out who were causing the commotion, one bumped into the other one and the screaming started. No one else was in the house so I went outside and attempted to diffuse the issue at hand. One person just walked away and said she was sorry to me and the other one I just kept by my side with a quick conversation. I needed one out of the driveway first so I did not have a car bumper show going on with the cars. This day was suppose to be about the house and I would say it would be truly memorable for these women. Just appreciate everyday where you are in life, lighten up, smile and laugh. You never know what is coming at you.
No I decided my seller did not need to know about the 'drama' at the open house. We will try again...You just never know what will happen in the never routine lives of a Realtor!
