Driftwood homes in St Petersburg are really unique. They make you wonder who is hiding behind the walls.....privacy is obviously important to these people. These homes directly on Tampa Bay make you think that you have stepped into another dimension and time. You have left modern day St Petersburg and been transported into a magical realm.

Are there wizards and magicians lurking beyond the gates? Do fairies and elves frequent these gardens? The gardens are mostly left to grow the way they want. Privacy, as I said, is at a premium. We don't want people looking in. Leave us alone to conjure up our magic!!!

Did I see a gnome in that yard??? Wasn't that an elf that just hid behind that tree??? Driftwood - you have to experience it yourself to really understand what I mean!!!

This is not a large neighborhood, but it is a special kind of place. Once you enter, you know to speak in a lower tone. You don't want to disturb the forces that you can't really see, but you know are always present.

Right behind many of these homes is Tampa Bay. There are only a few streets in Driftwood, but they are special!

Trees rule here! The roads were built around the trees. It will always remain like that. Man is tolerated here, as long as he respects nature's forces that rule this domain!

I love the iguanas crawling up this door! Relax, they are not real. But in Driftwood, it would not surprise me if they were!!!!
