I have enjoyed reading this series of blogs by Tina Hecht.  She is so right about kitchens and bathrooms.  There is a saying in real estate that goes like this, "Men buy garages and women buy kitchens and bathrooms":

If it's time to sell your home, then it's time to GET READY!

There are 4 things you need to do to prepare your home for sale.  The 4th step, and it's a big one, is to decide where to invest money in renovations.  

The kitchen and master bath are projects that will get you the most return on your investment so start there.  

  • Do you have a bathroom with original countertops and flooring?  Is the shower looking old?
  • How about the kitchen?  Are the cabinets falling into disrepair?  Could it use an island?  Or an island make-over?

The bottom line is certain removations will give you an edge over the competition, which could mean more and/or better offers.

Yes kitchens and bathrooms sell and I truly have had guys just check  out the garage and could care less about the rest of the home, I also had one that bought the home because their boat, they did like the home but if the garage did not fit their boat they would not even look at the home.
