Day 7, Debbie Reynolds Thanks Giving Challenge

I am thankful that we live in Kentlands, a planned community within the City of Gaithersburg in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland. Kentlands is a preferred community for families moving to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.

Loose Leaf Collection Underwayleaf
Fall loose leaf collection is now underway for single family and townhouse owners. Place your leaves at the street curb by 7 a.m. on your regular recycling day. Note that leaves placed in alleys or mews will not be collected. The weekly collection continues through the last week of December, weather permitting. Any time during the year you can bag your leaves in biodegradable brown bags and leave them curbside with your other recyclables.

Middle and high school skiers and snowboarders are invited to join "Gaithersburg Skis." Purchase a Night Club Card to take advantage of eight consecutive Saturday evening trips to Ski Liberty or Ski Whitetail in January and February. Trips run from 2 to 11:30 p.m., departing from and returning to the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. All students must first register for a Gaithersburg Youth Clubor Student Union membership to participate. Learn more here.

Donations Needed for Holiday Giving Programholiday
The City of Gaithersburg estimates that it will serve more than 1,600 children during its annual Holiday Giving program in December. The donation of new toys and new hat, scarf and glove sets is greatly appreciated. Monetary donations that will allow staff to purchase gifts to supplement the donated toys are also welcome and can be made online. Click here for more information.

Giving Tuesday - November 28giving
Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that encourages donations to organizations and programs committed to helping others. The City of Gaithersburg works with dozens of nonprofit organizations that help feed the hungry, house the homeless, provide financial and vocational training, offer medical assistance, mentor young people, and much more. Explore volunteer and donation opportunities here. The City continues to accept monetary donations and new toys for its Holiday Giving Program. We anticipate serving more than 1,500 children at a distribution in mid-December. Click here to learn more and to donate online.
