Alva Historical Museum and Library in the oldest library in southwest Florida. Alva is a unique historical, rural, agricultural, equestrian, and river front village.

Archbold Biological Station independent research facility, devoted to long-term ecological research and conservation of Florida's Ancient Islands , one million year old ancient dune system running for a hundred miles down the center of Florida, in most places less that ten miles wide. Ridge Rangers is a group of dedicated volunteers helping to preserve last remaining fragments of these Ancient desert like Islands that are highly endangered.Several times a year they have Edutainment activities, that are both entertaining and educational.

Edison and Ford Estates Museum An artifact museum with hundreds of Edison and Ford inventions and objects, video theatres, and changing special exhibits.

Florida Lighthouse Association works to save and protect the 30 remaining Florida lighthouses. The local lighthouse preservation groups make up the backbone of this group. Story of most recent lighthouse demise at Forgtotten Coastline and efforts to perhaps rebuild it at St. George Lighthouse Association.

Museum of the Islands Pine Island's past preserved. For years these islands were accessible only by boat (many still are) until a bridge across Matlacha waters linked the modern world to the islands.

Old Town Sanibel quaint village at eastern tip of Sanibel Island, was the center of island activity for building historic lighthouse in 1884, until the causeway in 1963.
