Map from Maggie Valley to Cherokee NCLast week I drove ‘over the mountain’ from Maggie Valley, NC to Cherokee, NC, which takes between 15 to 20 minutes, and is quite a spectacular drive, climbing up, around and through the winding roads carved precipitously out of the mountains, right down into Cherokee.

Driving past Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, on the way to ‘mine’ for gold and rubies (always on the lookout for a Dairy Queen), there were bears everywhere! I did not find all of them due to time constraints.

4 Comments on Watch Out for Bears in Cherokee, NC!

What a beautiful area of the country, you are so blessed to be in it.  Fall is a wonderful time of the year down there.  I think that is where I will be going this year for a vacation.  Visit my son in Chattanooga and head to Gatlinburg, Tn., Cherokee, NC. and who knows maybe even drive up into the Smokey Mts.

Thank you for the idea.  :-))

Hi Don, yes, it is beautiful here... year round!  I hope you are able to spend time here on your vacation.  Thank you for your attention.

Susie, I have been to Cherokee several times on my bike. Beautiful part of the country. And, yes you have to watch out for the 4 legged bears as well as the 2 legged bares.

I've never seen a bear outside of a zoo. Now that would definitely make my day.
