Vardis
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy.
Vardis was born in Annis, Idaho back in 1895. I have no written word about his childhood. What I can tell you about him is the rest of the story. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1920 with a Master of Arts degree and went on to earn a Ph. D. from the University of Chicago in 1925.
I can tell you he married three times was involved in WWI wrote newspaper columns, for local and regional publications over three decades. Vardis Fisher was described as a “cranky Idaho Old Rightist.” He was suspicious of all politicians (I like his thoughts), and favored smaller, less-intrusive government. He was a critic of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, that is until the attack on Pearl Harbor. But can you tell me what he is most noted for? Well boys and girls he wrote novels about the Old West. His most noted and sometimes criticized works was a 12-volume Testament of Man (1943-1960).
