Here are some quotes from recent ("A Quick Note") posts you might have missed:

On integrity....

I made up my mind, long before entering this line of work, that my work had to represent integrity. In order to do anything well, you have to be able to sleep at night. The hardest challenge a Notary Signing Agent faces is not cutting corners. Especially when faced with an unfortunately large number of requests and the lure of the almighty dollar. My advice to all the new notaries who will listen is: Don't compromise, don't be bullied and always remember your oath.

On Responsibility....

Prison overcrowding is not caused by all of the notaries awaiting execution on death row.  Still, average Americans do not fully appreciate the seriousness of the position that we hold in today's society.  Certainly, there are less professional Notaries Public that will do your bidding.  But, if you are looking for a professional Notary Signing Agent, look for the one who asks signers for their ID, takes thumbprints and asks you to raise your right hand when an affidavit is being executed.

A word about political correctness....

Today, in our world of political correctness, there are no winners. (there really are, you just don't say so because the losers will feel bad!) there are no losers (there really are, you just can't call them that-it might upset them).  There are no wrong answers (there really are, you just can't hurt the feelings of someone by telling them they're wrong).  Somewhere in time we began to allow the losers to define these terms.  I think it's time we took them back

The power of positive thinking....

Simply waking each day is not enough to maintain a positive outlook.  It seems one must awaken each day and remind themselves why they will be successful today.  Those who are most successful in sales know that you are often not selling a home or a product.  In fact, you are selling yourself!  I simply turn this behavior upon myself by telling myself I am good at what I do, I am trained well and have maintained current knowledge of my profession.  Further, that I have assisted thousands of people to a calmer understanding of their home loans and that THAT is a worthy accomplishment.

Using absurdity to illustrate and define Loyalty....:15:

Our culture may have begun its downward spiral when Burger King told us to "have it OUR way".  Before that, how did a person ever get the burger they really wanted?  I suppose that they found the one they liked (Joe's Burgers) and then went there whenever they wanted a burger.  Sounds right to me.  The problem now is that every business tells you to have it your way, but nobody can seem to capture the glorious essence and flavor of an authentic "Joe's" burger.  I'm not saying we should develop the "same place/same thing" mentality.  I'm saying that we need to remember the guy or the business who did it right and be less trusting of the one who tells us he is "just like" Joe's.  Otherwise, you'll turn around one day to find that Joe couldn't afford to keep his doors open and his unbelievable burger will be lost forever.

The adventure continues...

Wonderful post Shannon!  It really makes you think.  I look at being a notary as a privilege -- not a job.  I have always been a "by the book" notary -- no matter what, and would never do anything to lose that privilege.

I also wake up every morning filled with gratitude for everything and everyone in my life.  Every day is a gift... one I certainly do not take for granted.

Shannon - self-employed can be a dirty word to some, I've even received comments from others in my own family that claims "it's just a way to write off most of your income, taking advantage of us working class". OUCH! Guess we all have some grouches in our family tree...but to me, I work very hard in my career & love all aspects of being self-employed. Maybe I am not supposed to look happy?

I loved reading this post! You sound like my kind of person to be associated with!! - Carla

Thanks Carla...don't let the naysayers give you grief...being self-employed, others are naturally jealous of us as WE call the shots!

Keep your chin up!!
